City commissioners are set to award contract to private firm

POMPANO BEACH -- City commissioners gave tentative approval Tuesday to a plan that would remove the city's code enforcement activities from the Broward Sheriff's Office and turn control over to a private firm that will do the job for less.

Dead Mother found in home by Code Enforcement

Three months ago, authorities found the remains of Andrews’ 87-year-old mother, Gladys, in the home after sifting through piles of filth for days. Gladys Andrews had been dead for 14 months.  Gail Andrews was given until Friday to clean the residence or face demolition.
